Defender for Cloud Cost Estimation tool

Defender for Cloud Cost Estimation tool

Whilst I was working on the Become a Defender for Cloud Ninja modules I found a link that has been very helpful to me in my day to day life working with Defender for Cloud.

Future Kortor has written this community blog about the Defender for cost estimation and coverage tool.

Why is this such a great tool? Well, before enabling Defender for Cloud plans customers are interested in how much they will have to pay and it always depends on how large their environment is.

Here we can use the workbooks to tell the customer the cost of most Defender plans, it is an out of the box workbook that you can find in the defender for cloud portal i Azure.

  1. Login to https://portal.azure.com
  2. Search for Defender for Cloud
  3. Select Workbooks in the left hand pane

Cost estimation

Here I can play around with filters to see what things would cost me (This is my lab subscription so it does not contain many resources currently)

Coverage

My current plans (Again, none in this  sub)

Conclusion

This saves me so much time as it gives me straight up what it would cost and I can tweak it to the customers demands and be able to give them the correct pricing up front. I can also get a birds eye view of my environment and see which plans my subscriptions have active.
